During Covid. I was coming out the supermarket and a lady was crying. I approached her, asked her if I could help. She said “I just need a hug” I grabbed her and we stood hugging for what seemed 10 minutes. F uck Covid.

Was working at Great Lakes National Cemetery in, Holly Michigan, had a funeral for a retired Army NCO. Large family. Guy divorced his 1st wife after serving 20 plus years, had a lot of kids, married second wife, had a bunch more. Honor Guard folded the flag and gave it to wife #2, per NCO's last wishes. Wife #1 grabbed the flag and sprinted for her car while her kids provided a delaying tactic. Massive brawl ensued. State Police had about 20 cruisers there with a lot of arrests. Guns, knives, blood, smashed vehicles, no deaths but a lot of non-life threatening injuries. Mind you, there were 7 other services going on in the cemetery at that time. That was a little bit above average at that place but it was never a dull moment. Veteran's friends and family are always a fun bunch to be around during those times. I really miss that job.
